Family Bibles often hold other treasures between their pages and it’s not uncommon to find letters, newspaper clippings, bookmarks, photographs, calling cards, dried flowers and locks of hair.
In the early 1800s, before photographs could be easily taken and affordable, the vast majority of families would record the births and deaths of little children in their family bibles. It is still difficult for our team to read a family bible where the death of a small child is recorded. These bibles are especially important because too often, the bible is the only record of the brief life of that child.
The family records and personal mementos from prior generations are a priceless link to our ancestors.
Bible Rescue Has Three Missions
Donate a Family Bible
Family bibles are often the only source of family history information and when one disappears due to age, fire or the weather it is a tremendous loss. BibleRescue will accept any family bible with recorded family history information and seek to reunite that bible to the family and preserve the family history information.
If you have a family bible and would like to donate that bible you can send it to:
PO Box 224
